Morning — Chilled in bed for a bit. Then my parents called from Pakistan. They're getting me a carpet, and they accidentally got the wrong shawl, so now the whole thing is they have to bring it back and everything. My dad talked about going to see his sisters. Yeah, whatever.
Late AM — Worked out for an hour, then came back and stretched. I've been trying to do total body stretches because I feel really stiff. Oh my God, one of the biggest issues I have right now is this huge horrible case of tech neck. Whenever I'm sitting my back is just totally bent. I really want to get rid of it. Not sure if I want to make it one of my quarterly goals, but it's really been bothering me.
Midday — Went back and forth between staying in all day, because I've had pretty bad diarrhea for the last two days, or actually going out. Then I realized I only have a few days left where I'll be able to drive a car, and I love driving a car. So I went out.
Drive — Talked to my sister on the way from the hotel to Sephora. Tried to get her to go see Practical Magic 2. It's not a perfect movie, but if you liked the first one, it's pretty good.
Afternoon — Sephora. I'm starting a daily skincare routine so I needed new stuff. Looked at a couple of options and ended up with a restorative cream and a toner, and topped up my SPF stick because mine is running out. A friend called while I was there so we chatted briefly.
Later afternoon — Turkish café. That's where I got the idea that later in my life I'd love to have a cyber café kind of thing. Just a place with a ton of tables and places to sit, not a lot of outlets but that's fine, where you can have some food and work for a long time. Got the Adana kebab and it was really, really delicious. I was in two minds between that and the chicken and I'm glad I got it. But because of the diarrhea my stomach was feeling really bad by the end, and it was cold inside and I forgot my jacket. I would have loved to work there for a while, but I went back to the hotel.
Evening — The plan was to go back to the hotel and go out again after. Instead I worked on the blog, started watching TV, and before you knew it it was 7:30. I really wanted to go to Old Navy and try on some clothes because I need a wardrobe reset. It's becoming comical how bad my wardrobe is. But I didn't go out. I'll probably just read a book and call it a day.
Also evening — Same feelings popping up in the evening. Loneliness, and wishing I had someone. Everyone has a warm house filled with people to go back to and I don't have that. There's a huge existential fear in my heart that maybe it's not going to happen for me. In my mind I'm always thinking, oh yeah, I'm going to meet Prince Charming and we're going to fall in love and whatever. But as the years drag on it's not happening, and it's getting scarier and scarier.
What I realized
- I love driving so much that it got me out of bed on a day I felt bad. Only a few days left of having a car.
- Tech neck is really bothering me. Might make it a quarterly goal.
- The cyber café idea came from sitting in a Turkish café. Tons of tables, food, somewhere you can work for a long time.
- I need a wardrobe reset. It's comical at this point.
- The loneliness keeps coming back in the evenings, and the fear that it might not happen for me is getting scarier as the years go on.
